Teach with us.
Irene Nexus is growing beyond one teacher. We're looking for qualified subject specialists who want to teach one-to-one, properly, without a classroom of thirty pulling against them.
We are deliberately small and intend to stay careful about who joins. Every tutor here is matched to students by specialism and temperament rather than availability, which only works if the people are genuinely good. If you have spent years watching what one-to-one attention does for a child who was written off in a large class, you already understand the premise.
Subjects we're recruiting for
- Mathematics
- Primary through senior secondary, across the Nigerian, British, American and Canadian curricula.
- Sciences
- Basic Science, Biology, Physics or Chemistry — single subject or combined.
- English & Literature
- To work alongside Irene as demand grows.
- French
- DELF for school-age students, TEF and TCF for adult immigration candidates.
- Special Educational Needs
- Recognised SEN training and experience teaching one-to-one.
What we expect
- A recognised teaching qualification
- A degree in your subject or in education, and where applicable, professional registration such as TRCN.
- Real classroom experience
- We are not looking for people who have read about teaching. We are looking for people who have done it.
- Curriculum fluency
- You should be able to teach your subject in at least one of the four systems we serve, and be honest about which.
- Reliable connectivity
- Lessons run on Google Meet. A parent in Toronto cannot be told the lesson dropped.
- Willingness to be checked
- Identity verification and two professional references before you meet a student. No exceptions.
What we offer
One-to-one teaching on Google Meet, Monday to Saturday, with students matched to your specialism rather than allocated at random. Lesson slots are held per term, so your schedule is predictable rather than reshuffled weekly. You teach; we handle the parent relationship, the learning plans and the reporting structure.
How to apply — send your CV, your subject and year-level range, the curricula you can teach, and the names of two professional referees to theirenenexus@gmail.com. Please include a short note on how you would teach a student who has decided they are bad at your subject.
Ask before you apply.
If you'd rather talk it through before sending anything, message us and we'll come back to you.
